Each collection over the years builds on previous works, explores variations on a theme, or works in conversation with previous collections. All of Christine's work address subjects, themes, and reoccurring symbols highlighted in her artist statement.

Statement:

I use 24k gold and mixed metals in my paint to create sweeping abstract paintings that refract light and construct shadows. I am able to manipulate the luster of natural objects and incorporate greater depth and dimension into my pieces. I call my paintings “internal landscapes” that animate internal human experiences.

The stories I tell with my paintings are mine, but sometimes they might feel like they’re yours. Over the past 15 years I’ve explored topics such as grief, loss of loved ones, synesthesia, the intricacies of relationships and currently motherhood. All of my previous collections have created a catalog of language and elements that repeat in my artworks and series again and again in varying iterations. I use thin layers and glazing techniques to imbue a sense of depth, time gone by and movement though the world. My “lifelines” are a recurring element that speak to individual relationships with friends and family members and the tension and tenor each relationship holds on the canvas. Because – at the end of the day – the relationships we have are the most important thing we possess.
