Studio Updates March 2026

When my dad died and I found out I was pregnant I was in the middle of a series about motherhood – a series that felt cut short. I felt lost and floating in my studio practice.  I created only a few works after my father died, “Bad Room Rising” and “The Storm” But working in series didn’t feel natural at the time. I took many commissions in 2025 instead of creating in series. I’m coming back to my motherhood series – this time with two children and a headspace working in series.

“While You Were Sleeping” is a new series that is in conversation with my motherhood series from 2024 but also incorporates the golden lifelines from Gaslight (2021). I have used lifelines in white and gold over the past decade to symbolize important relationships. There are four lifelines in these works to represent my family.

The titles of each of these paintings are catchphrases my toddler says – Her words that I never want to forget. In 2018 I titled all the paintings from my  collection, “The Divide” phrases from my loved ones who had passed. With this collection I’m doing the same, just from my effervescent daughter this time. I’m hoping that by turning them into paintings it will help me remember the emotional internal landscape I feel in this moment of motherhood.

Other works I’m working on and enjoying is an ongoing series called, “The Golden Years.” These pieces are 24k gold on acrylic. These whimsical pieces are a fun pop of color highlighting some of the precious moments of every day. These  small line portraits of my children and family moments. These works are not for sale, however custom comissioned works of your own loved ones are available.

For the artists that follow me I have offered one-on-one coaching for about five years. I’ve had the pleasure of helping so many incredible aspiring and emerging artists get their artwork out into the world. Due to time constraints (read: two children) I am excited to offer group mentorship with Mastrius. Two meetings – four hours a month you will meet with me and a small (less than 10) artists and work on your dreams and goals together. Think of it like a mastermind group without the crazy price tag. My next mentorship group is launching in early April so snag your spot here.

“I’m so grateful for my work with Christine over the last few months! We’ve done five sessions together, and I’ve learned so much from working with her and the accountability and encouragement have been invaluable. During the sessions, we choose specific topics to focus on—like drafting my artist bio, pricing artwork, and exploring and refining other offerings. Christine not only helped me better understand how the art world works, but she’s also provided tactical support when I was stuck and helped me build a structured, practical framework to move forward from. I’m grateful for her thoughtful questions, gentle support and encouragement, and deep expertise and experience. After these few months, I feel much clearer about my offerings, more confident about sharing my work, and have momentum to build off of. Thank you so much, Christine—I look forward to working together again soon and I couldn’t recommend her more highly to anyone looking for support!” – Nadia Mufti, Artist and coaching student
