I’ve been painting for 20 years but decided to try and become a professional artist last year in 2015. I’m working full time as a web and graphic designer at a boutique firm and painting at nights and on weekends. I live in Arlington,VA and I’ve taken over my husband and my 1 bedroom apartment living room with my painting.

This is the year I decided on my vertical “CEO” signature and the year I painted my first painting over 6’ tall. I spoke on creative panels and connected with many other artists in D.C.

This was also the year a dabbled in wedding and event backdrop paintings and the first year I licensed a painting to @westelm

In 2016 I visited museums and met artists in Atlanta, LA, Miami, and San Francisco and of course D.C. I bought my first home and made one of the bedrooms into my dedicated studio space.

It was the year I got my first big commissions from collectors that believed in me and still support me to this day.

I’ve loved seeing others 2016 posts. How far we’ve all come and how thankful I am for the journey. #2016
Only a couple of weeks late I finally posted the b Only a couple of weeks late I finally posted the books I read in 2025 and their rankings. Visit the blog at the link in my profile to see all the books. I did not rank the hundreds of children’s books I read to my children, but perhaps I’ll add them to the rankings next year. In case you’re wondering - Goodnight Moon, Madeline, and Fox in Socks have all been committed to memory and rank quite high for me. ANYWAY! Ranked from 5 stars to 1 star. You know the drill. 5 stars are a must read. 4 stars is good and recommended. 3 stars is overall enjoyable. 2 stars is okay. 1 star is not worth your time. Let’s dive in! —> tell me your favorite books you read last year!

2025 was the year of the boy - This year I grew a 2025 was the year of the boy

- This year I grew and gave birth at home to an almost 10lb baby boy. He’s the hungriest baby in the world and I feel like I spent most of the later half of the year breastfeeding. 😅

- I celebrated 10 years of marriage to my husband and I’m thankful for my life with him. It gets better every year.

- I celebrated 10 years of being a professional artist selling my work.

- I painted less this year but still had dozens of commissions.

- I stoped working in series this year and have been making works more in flow. I’m sure I’ll do more series soon this year just didn’t lend itself to large collections.

- I experimented with materials (I can’t help myself)

- I coached dozens of beginning, emerging and mid-career artists.

- I painted with my daughter

- I took thousands of photos of my children and they are the work I’m most proud of this year.

- I changed thousands of diapers

- I cooked many meals that were fun to make.

- We renovated half of our house where our children sleep. Making them a safe a cozy home is one of the greatest pleasures.

- I felt more lost in my body than ever before but somehow I’ve never cared less.

- I read about 40 books

- I had real conversations with my husband and my friends that made me feel more connected as a human.

- My family, my mother and my brothers family traveled to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to spread my father’s ashes. I spent the first 14 years of my childhood here and my family all agreed that this was the place my father was happiest.

If you made it this far, thank you for seeing me in this place. I’ll be skiing into the new year with my family ⛷️ Here’s to looking at you 2025. Ready to meet 2026. Cheers my friends 🥂
