Work in Progress. Last night I laid down with the

Work in Progress. Last night I laid down with the windows open. The cicadas and crickets composed a humming background. The lighting flashed in pulsating beats. My arm was resting across my chest and I could feel my heart beat through my silk nightie. I’ve forgotten to hold my heart for so long.

I remember putting my hand over my heart or my fingers under my neck as a child - feeling my pulse, knowing if she left, then I would leave. In those moments I felt an intimacy with myself. Recognizing a part of me I can’t control but keeps me alive.

Last night I held my heart for a little bit. With each beat a little voice saying “There you are. We are still here. We are holding each other, we are holding ourself.” Each beat, a little bit of me reaching out to touch my hand on the other side of my chest. We can do it. I’m always here. Don’t forget to hold me from time to time. ❤️

✨LETS GOOOOOOOOO! ✨

- They don’t make stretcher bars this large. So I made them from scratch.

-They don’t manufacture single sheet canvas this large, unsown. So I had it custom made.

- 480 staples, and months of prep later, I can finally begin painting.

- Now I just need to not screw it up. 💃🏼 🤞🏻

I’m going to keep sharing these even though they’re sold out because I already made the content and I need to make new work. But sheeeeeeesh the hamster wheel of content creation is 😅 🤡😴

Enough of that… I have a random confession which actually makes me smile so I thought I would share.

I confess, I often think of my friends performing mundane tasks with delight. I often imagine people I know whistling while unloading dishwasher. Or listening to a podcast while folding their underwear. Or dancing around while vacuuming. There is a really cute expression people get on their faces that is just kind of sweet and far away when performing, mundane physical tasks.

I don’t know why I mingle pleasure with the mundane, or why I project these imaginations on to my friends, but it always makes me smile and makes me happier to do my mundane tasks. Ok. I’ll be on my computer most of today, doing boring things. Stay sweet ☺️
