Hey, it’s Christine!

I’ve been painting and giving away paintings all of my life, I’ve won state and national competitions for my art, but never thought I could do it professionally. With the right amount of encouragement from friends and family, a degree in classical liberal arts, and maybe, just maybe, enough business savvy I decided to go pro.

I am truly passionate about painting and I am excited to share that with you. I tend to operate from an impressionistic/modern school of thought.  I understand that many people do not think impressionistic art or abstract art are in fact artforms. “But Christine, a child could have painted that!” I will address this concern in later posts.

The Romantic era (late 18th century-early 19th century) capture and convey the sense of imperfection and idealism that resonate with my experience of the human condition. There is some darkness in the world, but there is also the belief that there can be change and hope in the future. I think that is true of the world. There is much darkness, and evil, but there is a hope and a future in Christ. I surmise that this is the reason that I relate to and enjoy Romantic artists more than any other period in art history (as well as Romantic composers). But more details about Romanticism later. For now, all you need to know is that Romanticism is my modus operandi when it comes to art.

The bottom line is, that I believe that art should be uplifting. It should display the glory of God, bring joy, light, life, and general good vibes into your life, or event. That is the underlying philosophy from which I paint and create. That is all that I strive to do.

Also, *real talk* I appreciate every time someone shares, reposts, and purchases a painting, but I’m also not offended if you don’t like my artwork. I understand that everyone has a different style. This is my style, either you like it or you don’t. If you’re a friend or family member, don’t feel pressured to share something of mine if you don’t like it.  I love what I do, and I love when others love what I do, but I know not everybody will like my art. Thanks for understanding.

This blog will be focused mostly on art related topics, but you might also see the occasional social commentary, interview, fellow artist feature, and day-to-day domestic story. I hope you enjoy, and thanks for checking out my site!
