✨2024 was the year of Big Things. I don’t ch

✨2024 was the year of Big Things.

I don’t choose a word for each year - but in hindsight I’d say 2024 was a big year.

I started the year by becoming a mother in early January. I can’t believe my babe is almost 1.

My husband and I renovated our primary bathroom, replaced all of the windows in our house, all of the siding and the roof. We are still in the midst of interior renovations but I’m thankful the outside is done.

I gained about 70 pounds in my pregnancy and lost about 60 this year.

I worked on paintings, commissions, and passion projects. I met new collectors and art friends. I released a series on motherhood and painted with my baby on my back, chest and lap.

I ran, I read, I cooked. I took my baby to the beach. I took her to the White House. I exclusively breastfed for her first 6 months. I watched her learn to walk and smile and communicate. I watched her sleep.

I lost my dad. A week after losing him I found out I’m pregnant with my second child. I held grief and anticipation in both hands. I let the pain of the past and imagination of the future exist in me simultaneously. I let myself weep because I wasn’t ready for the death or the new life.

I’m going into 2025 growing. Growing inside and out. Making art at my pace. Mostly trying to spend time with people. Cheers to you. May 2025 bring you blessings and peace. ✌️

Life has felt like a storm this month and I can’t see my way out. The chaos feels never-ending and I don’t know what to do about it except paint it. “A Girl Child” 30”x40” was the last completed work from my motherhood series I made before I learned of my father’s passing.

Since his passing I have needed to revisit and reopen two of my previous collections “The Divide” and “Gaslight” and I have begun works in conversation with those previous series.

I’m taking a break from “Motherhood” series simply because my head is not there at the moment, but I know it will come back. For now I’m diving into the past and processing my grief through “The Divide” and revisiting “Gaslight” since that series was about my father and the struggle of our relationship.
